Approximately 120 km from Johannesburg (an hour or so drive), this family friendly getaway is located at the Vredeford Dome near Parys, which is currently being registered as a World Heritage Site. This 13 km long 4×4 route, is one of the most enjoyable and scenic one-day trails in South Africa…. Highly recommended by those who have already enjoyed the tour, and will take you the better part of four to six hours to complete.
We get together at the camp at Barakah. Where we will set up camp and for those brave one’s there is a swimming pool to cool off while waiting for supper.
We wake up to fresh clean morning air and enjoy breakfast. Then set off to an adventurous days 4×4 driving which includes 4×4 driving through trees, dongas, rivers, steep ascents and descents. There is also the Rhino Challenge for the very daring, adventurous 4×4 driver. Afterwards, we return to camp to relax and chat about the day’s driving and enjoy supper
After an enjoyable breakfast we drive back to Parys to the Vaalriver for a fun filled family river rafting day surrounded by the beauty of nature. Please remember to bring swim wear and at least one change of clothes, in case you get them wet as sometimes it can be cold. Returning to camp at Barakah, it’s time to break camp, pack-up and head for home.
4×4 Vehicle, Camping equipment and your own beverages. If it is a cross border 4×4 tour then you will also need: passports for all in your party, ID documents, drivers license, insurance consent letter, bank consent letter, third party insurance (for most countries), and if needed – malaria tablets. Please also consult with your General Practitioner and advise them of the country you will be visiting, and follow the necessary malaria precautions and take all necessary medications. Please note that each country has different malaria precautions, some require you have the injections and others that you take the tablets etc.
